How do they know when to change the gas prices?

Gas prices change quite frequently, as ive noticed. I remember a particular gas station that changed its prices over 6 times in one day. How do they know when to change the prices? Who contacts them? Do they already have the information available? Where do they get it? Are they aloud to disclose it?

They watch tv news and when price goes up they run out and change it. When price goes down they don’t change it.

Its a game. I work at a gas station and this is how it usually goes. The price of oil goes up so we raise are prices the next morning when we open, then through out the day it usually get lowered a little bit because the people down the street lower there price. And to answer the rest of your questions assuming that when you say “they” you mean the people working there:

-The owner/manger tells them to change it
-I think i just answered who contacts them
-No the information is not already available (to the attendants anyways)
-so therefore they get it from no where and it cannot be disclosed
